Information on study permit

You need an acceptance letter from a designated learning institution (DLI).  All primary and secondary schools in Canada are designated learning institutions.  So, what happens after finishing your post-secondary study or post-graduate study? Some students are entitled to receive Post-Graduate-Work-Permit (PGWP). So, be careful when you get a Letter of Acceptance that you might not receive a PGWP after finishing your study.

The other key difference between programs is some programs allow is co-op and internship. Some study programs include work experience as part of their curriculum. You can apply for a co-op or intern work permit if you meet all of the following conditions:

1. You have a valid study permit.
2. You are required to work in order to complete your study program in Canada

3. You have a letter from your school that confirms all students in your program need to complete work placements to get their degree.

4. Your co-op placement or internship totals 50% or less of your study program
